Team JET prepares for Lincoln’s first half marathon
On Sunday 2nd October JET will be joined by a group of inspiring individuals who will run 13.3 miles at the first ever Lincoln Half Marathon. Their aim is to help us raise awareness and vital funds for our youth programmes across Lincolnshire so that we can help more young people be the best they can be.
Team JET is joined by Lincoln City Football Club’s Team Manager Danny Cowley who is swapping his football boots for running shoes for the day to tackle the course.
Danny said “I’m really pleased to be joining the JET team. Jon and the Red Arrows are an iconic part of Lincolnshire and represent team work and a great work ethic. This is something we strive for at Lincoln City FC.
“Hopefully the Lincoln City fans will donate to the Just Giving page to help raise funds for a great cause.
“Since I’ve come to Lincoln the people have been very welcoming to myself and Nicky as well as our families so I’m looking forward to seeing other parts of the city.”
Fundraising Officer Sarah Cross, explained: “We’re so thrilled to have Danny join our team and for the support from Lincoln City FC.
“The support from the community is crucial to us as it not only enables us to grow and develop our youth engagement programmes, but it also helps us fulfil our ambition to work with 10,000 young people nationwide every year by 2020.
“We hope that with their help we can raise as much money as possible and raise awareness of the work we do locally.”
Joining the team for his second half marathon is Air Commodore Harvey Smyth, Jon’s commanding officer while he flew Harriers; Rob Freeman, a teacher from Barnes Wallis Academy which benefits from our Blue Skies Level 1 and Inspirational Outreach programme; Mike Hine, the Lincoln City FC team physio; SAC(T) Glenn Proven; Martin Hull from Leonardo who offer huge support to our programmes by helping with volunteers and fundraising; Sarah Cross, JET’s very own Fundraising Officer; and Katy Cross, Alistair Dunning and Madi Lembo who are all supporters of JET.
