Great North Run 2016

Great North Run 2016

Five years after Jon’s death, JET is once again fielding a team of runners in this year’s Great North Run (GNR) with Jon Culshaw donning his trainers to take part too.

He will be joined by Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, the head of the Royal Air Force, to celebrate our work and our partnership with the RAF. Also running on September 11th are Air Commodore Harv Smyth, Jon’s commanding officer while he flew Harriers, Jon’s cousin Glen Heighton and Angie James, JET’s Head of Business and Communications, Group Captain David Bradshaw, Wing Commander Jenny Hone, Squadron Leader Gareth Thomas, Sarah Erangey, Wing Commander Andrew J Wright, and Martin Smith.

Jon Culshaw said: “Every young person should have the chance to be the best they can be. JET works with youngsters who are having a difficult time, perhaps having to care for their parents, or in care themselves, and gives them the opportunity to discover the possibilities open to them. I’m helping to raise funds so the charity can expand and reach as many youngsters as possible”

Sir Stephen Hillier said: “ I am delighted to be running the GNR this year for the Jon Egging Trust. The Trust works in partnership with the RAF, not only to help give a sense of possibility and purpose to young people from challenging backgrounds, but also to inspire them to raise their aspirations and reach their full potential. In just over four years JET has made a fantastic difference to thousands of young lives and I’m sure many more will benefit from their great work in the future.”
