New heights for Civil Aviation Authority partnership.

The Jon Egging Trust (JET) is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which will enable 765 disadvantaged students to benefit from JET’s long-term, STEM-inspired Blue Skies support programmes, receiving over 16,500 hours of face-to-face support over the next year. 

The funding will support programme delivery in Hampshire, Lincolnshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, East Anglia, and North Wales, as well as enabling JET to expand its work in the West Midlands, in a corridor of severe deprivation around Wolverhampton.   

In addition to the vital funding, the CAA has pledged direct support for JET students from September, offering access to their network of inspiring STEM ambassadors, and delivering two careers workshops in December and February to highlight pathways into careers in space and aviation. 

JET’s partnership with the CAA began in 2022, with the CAA part-funding the charity’s work in six of its nine active regions including East Anglia, Lincolnshire, North Wales, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire.  

JET CEO, Dr Emma Egging, says: “Over the past year, the CAA has provided vital opportunities for our students to experience and be inspired by STEM and aviation careers. We are immensely grateful for their continued support which will enable us to provide further opportunities linked to the space industry. By giving access to unique workplaces and the professional role models within them, our students gain an insight into career pathways they might have been unaware of, or considered inaccessible. In our commitment to levelling up, it’s vital that we create pathways like this for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in order to harness the depth of talent that exists within overlooked communities, and to help address the critical skills gap within the UK STEM and aerospace industries.”
