On 13th June, twelve lucky students from Priory Witham Academy were fortunate enough to be invited to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) day at RAF Scampton organised by EBP. This was a day jam packed with opportunities to look to the future and see what kind of careers are available in the associated fields that make up STEM.
The students received a welcome talk from station commander Wing Commander Michael Scarrop and Rachel Riley from Channel 4’s Countdown who both talked about how they forged their own careers through STEM.
The students then spent the day talking with staff and completing various tasks with different companies. These ranged from the chemistry of smells in the work place; construction and even to the future of drones.
To complete the day they were treated to a display from the ever amazing Red Arrows.
The students had a truly fantastic day and a great chance to raise their aspirations and look into careers that they didn’t even know existed.
