The JET team in North Wales were very excited to begin working with pupils from Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn. Not only was it their first session of the Inspirational Outreach Programme funded by Reaching Wider, but Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn is based in Llandudno in the County of Conwy. They are the first school in the county to work with JET, which highlights the growth and development of the Jon Egging Trust.
The programme began with a windy start in the playground.
The getting to know you session is a great way for the pupils to learn more about JET, how the programme has been tailored for them and meet the JET staff. It is also surprising how much the pupils get to learn about each other. They may be in the same school or even the same class as each other but unless prompted to do so, they may not know as much about each other as they first thought.
“I learnt that if you work with different people that you don’t always work with, you can still trust them.” Rebekah, 10
For this Inspirational Outreach Programme the main aim is teamwork. In order to work well and get the most out of the session, the pupils need to feel comfortable as part of the team and need to trust others. Through the various activities this objective was met.
“I learnt to trust people and communication is harder than what you think and also working with other people. I enjoyed being blindfolded because it is fun and also I can trust people more now.” Natasha, 11
Well done Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn, JET are looking forward to the next session.
