Time seems to be flying by as on 21st March it was time for another session with Ysgol Y Tywyn. This time the pupils were asked to put their thinking caps on and get problem solving using the MTa pass kit.
The pupils started with a couple of straight forward challenges, allowing them an opportunity to get hands on with the equipment and figure out how the components work. Then the challenges became a little more difficult and the pupils soon realised the need to plan before attempting to solve the challenge.
Each team chose a leader who had overall decision making responsibility if the team could not decide between themselves. Within each challenge, mini challenges were also put in place: who could talk, changing leaders half way through a challenge, changing how the equipment could be used.
“I really enjoyed building and being creative with the MTa kit. It helped me to develop my communication, teamwork and listening skills.” Melissa, 10
The pupils did not always complete the challenges in the way in which they first thought and the pupils soon realised that it was alright to make a plan, having a go, then adapt their plan.
“I really enjoyed listening to others opinions and seeing how they saw it.” Angel, 10
The year 6 pupils did very well at adapting to change and communicated well throughout all of the challenges.
